The Emerald Flame Kickstarter Campaign Online Puzzles
These 5 puzzles were posted weekly throughout The Emerald Flame Kickstarter campaign.
Use the arrows to navigate between images. Hints and solutions can be found below.
Note that Puzzle 1 and 3 have more than one image.
Puzzle 4 requires the use of Google Street view. The rest do not require any outside research.
Solutions will be in the form of a word or phrase.
. Examine the first image. It says the word “intersect” and 3 of the shields have the letter “s” next to them. Could you figure out what they have in common?
. Look at the closeup image of the top of the page. Do you notice some dots there?
. The dots land in intersections of crossing lines. Could the number of intersections be significant?
. One has 3 dots, one has 4, and one has 12. All 3 are connected to the black and gold shield in the top center.
. The “value” of the shield in the top center is 19, based on all the intersections that cross the lines coming out of that shield. Now examine the other S shields.
. All S shields have a value of 19, and S is the 19th letter of the alphabet. Now you should be able to assign each shield a number based on the number of related intersections.
. Now that you have numbers you can translate them into letters. Time to look at Image #2 of the red building.
. The letters should be ordered by the sequence of the shields on the top of the red building.
Puzzle 1 Hints
Puzzle 2 Hints
. Notice the colorful shapes on the front of the ring. Do they look like anything?
. The shapes are letters. Can you identify them all? Note their colors as well.
. Have you noticed the little colored gems on the side of the ring? Their order is significant.
. You should have the letters: WT (red), OH (orange), WI (yellow), TE (green), RE (blue). Can you try to make two words by using the colors to help you with the order?
. You know each position can only be one of two letters. Try writing them out in two rows and see if you can solve for the words.
. It would be easier to solve this puzzle by printing out the images or using a drawing software with layers like Photoshop or Gimp.
. You need to create a sequence of tubes going from bottle to bottle. Each bottle is passed once in the sequence.
. If each tube separately is overlaid on top of the bottle image, it will be evident that some bottles can be connected. Try first identifying the tubes that can only exist in one position.
. Once you have placed those, try seeing where the others can now fit. The first connection in the sequence is between the diamond and the square.
. Once you’ve completed the sequence, combine the shapes from each connection and use them to get a letter from the top. For example, the first letter of the square and diamond is a G.
Puzzle 3 Hints
. You will need to use Google street view to solve this puzzle. Start by finding the addresses by using the listed numbers and the two street names: Male Namesti and Nerudova.
. If you drag the person into street view and look around you may notice some familiar symbols.
. Each of the addresses has a symbol on the house that corresponds to one of the 20 flags. For example, 14/456 Male Namesti has a blue horse.
. The following symbols are found at the addresses: 14/456 - Blue horse, 12/458 - fleur de lis, 13/457 - 2 headed eagle, 16/212 - cup, 12/210 - violins, 28/217 - wheel, 27/243 - key. Now why do you think that A is circled?
. Each symbol corresponds with a letter based on the names listed at the addresses. But once you have those 7 letters, how do you get the order? Have you noticed the pattern below the words “The Gallery?”
. Use the patterns from the flags you identified to order the letters according to the sequence of patterns in the top banner. The first letters are V and L.
Puzzle 4 Hints
. What do you think “overlaps are in-betweens” means? Do you see anything that overlaps?
. The shapes in the floorplan create overlaps and some of them have letters inside. For example, between C and E is the letter D. What can you make of that?
. D is between C and E. O is another letter in an overlap between L and R. What’s their placement in the alphabet?
. O is equidistant to L and R in the alphabet. You should be able to figure out the rest of the letters now, but keep in mind they are not all used, and there is one space that “behaves differently.” What could be between B and Z?
. The letter between B and Z is A. Now notice that each flag has 2 colors in the background. How can you relate that to the floorplan?
. The two colors on each flag should give you the letter that overlaps between those two colors. For example brown and light blue is A. Dark green and gray is D.
. Read the letters in the order of the flags, from left to right in two rows. The solution is 6 words.
